Contamination Assessment and Reduction Project (CARP)

The Contamination Assessment and Reduction Project (CARP) has been an important component of the New York/New Jersey Harbor Estuary Program and has contributed greatly to our understanding of toxic contaminants in the harbor.  The CARP project entailed a vast data collection effort and the development of a state of the art mathematical model to help analyze the data and make management decisions.  The CARP model is now being actively used by HEP as it develops Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) for toxics.
